The American Dream

Danielle Collins has not win a Grand Slam match before coming in to the Australian Open, now she has won five, and she is heading into the semifinals where she would be facing Petra Kvitova. On the other hand, Frances Tiafoe advanced to his first QF of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career and it is worth mentioning that before he lost to Nadal he beat two former top ten players in the world, like Andreas Seppi and Grigor  and also on the second round he beat Kevin Anderson, who is ranked five at the moment.

Collins graduated from the University of Virginia and she says that going to college really helped her grow. On her way to the semifinals she beat three top 20 players, including Angelique Kerber, who has won two Grand Slams and Caroline Garcia.

However, these two players are not the only ones holding the American flag right now, we can see how Fritz is also improving his level, and young WTA players like Anisimova and Kenin and shaping the future of tennis.

Finally we will possibly be seeing and American holding a number one ranking again…
